What can be expected when visiting with the Homerville church of Christ? This is an important question to ask as visiting a congregation for the first time can be a scary thing. Allow us to hopefully ease one in easily with an explanation of some expectations.
We hope to provide a warm, friendly welcome to all visitors.
Bible classes for those of any age.
Classes and sermons which are rooted in the heart changing Word of God (Rom. 1:16; 2 Tim. 3:16-17, 4:2).
Simple worship based on the teachings of the scriptures.
Visitors are not expected to give a “love offering.” The only times an offering will be taken is during the worship services at 11:00 and 6:00 as the members make a weekly offering. Visitors are not expected to give during this time.
Generally, services begin with the congregation being led in singing without the accompaniment of instruments. After an opening prayer, the congregation will sing a song or two more and be led in the Lord’s Supper. This is done to commemorate the Lord’s death, burial, resurrection, and eventual return. One more song is usually sung followed by a sermon. This sermon precede’s the Lord’s invitation. After the closing prayer services are concluded.
An invitation to visit us again!
